On Saturday 16th November, a dynamic collaboration of basketball talent took center stage at the Basketball Ireland National Arena for the highly anticipated #SOCIABALL event. Representing the spirit of community and competition, members of the Newry Flicers She Got Game ladies joined forces with the great women from Magherafelt Titans, forming a powerhouse hybrid team for the day, aptly named The Flying Titans.
Teams from all over the island gathered for the event, celebrating the camaraderie and joy of the sport in a day filled with action, laughter, and a slight competitive edge. The Flying Titans brought their A-game, delivering thrilling plays, sharp teamwork, and plenty of energy on the court. Points were scored, epic plays made, and even a cheeky foul or two.
This event showcased the growth and dedication of women’s basketball in the region. Born from a mission to empower women through sports, the programme has proven to be more than just a game—it’s a community.
“The Flying Titans” were a testament to what happens when passion meets opportunity. With smiles and determination, these women exemplified the core values of the She Got Game: inclusion, sportsmanship, and fun.
The second year of the She Got Game programme has kicked off and we are looking forward to hosting more blitz’s in the near future.
