Basketball NI community, get ready for an action-packed day as the Basketball NI Cup Competition Finals take place on Sunday 2nd March at De La Salle College, Belfast. The day will feature five exciting finals across our five Senior divisions, showcasing the best teams battling for silverware. The first game tips off at 9:30am and continuing all day so make sure to come down and catch all the excitement!
Men’s Division 3 Shield Final
UU Tigers 4 vs. Mourne BC – 9:30AM
The day kicks off with the Men’s Division 3 Shield Final, where UU Tigers 4 take on Mourne BC. This is a new division to our Cup Competition this season and we cannot see who is going to take home the Shield for the first year! After impressive semi-final victories, UU Tigers 4 defeating Lurgan Lakers 1 (61-47) and Mourne BC dominating Antrim Jets BC (72-38) – both teams will be eager to claim the title. Expect a fast-paced, high-energy clash to start the day!
Men’s Division 2 Bowl Final
Tyrone Towers vs. Hazelwood Hawks – 11:30AM
Next up, Tyrone Towers face Hazelwood Hawks in the Men’s Division 2 Bowl Final. Tyrone Towers secured their spot with a commanding 62-38 win over Magherafelt Titans, while Hazelwood Hawks edged out Newry Eagles (63-58) in a tightly contested battle with both teams top in the current league. Both teams will need to bring their best performance to claim victory.
Men’s Division 1 Plate Final
Belfast Star vs. UU Tigers 3 – 1:30PM
Belfast Star had a strong performance in the semi-finals, overcoming UU Tigers 2 (76-64), while UU Tigers 3 defeated North Star Warriors (59-48) to book their place in the final. This game promises to be a thrilling encounter between two well-matched teams looking to secure Division 1 silverware.
Women’s Senior Cup Final
Belfast Star vs. Queens BC – 3:30PM
In the Women’s Senior Cup Final, Belfast Star takes on Queens BC in what promises to be a thrilling showdown between the top two teams in the Women’s Premier league. Men’s Premier Cup Final
Ballymena BC vs. Belfast Star – 5:30PM
The finale of the day features Ballymena BC taking on Belfast Star in the Men’s Premier Cup Final. Ballymena BC cruised past Omagh Thunder BC (69-35) in the semi-finals, while Belfast Star emerged victorious against Phoenix BC (70-52). With both teams in top form, this highly anticipated matchup will provide an immense end to Cup Competition Finals Day.
