SportMaker is Sport NI’s way of celebrating and showing thanks to the incredible individuals whose dedication makes sport happen.
What’s Changing?
SportMaker is evolving! With Sport NI’s largest-ever investment in sports, there are more incredible people to celebrate and recognise than ever before. Rather than hosting a traditional awards programme, Sport NI are launching an exciting social media campaign to shine a light on the coaches, volunteers, and officials who bring sport to life.
When and How to Get Involved?
#SportMaker 2025 will take place across three separate weeks:
- Coaches Week: 27 January 2025
- Officials Week: 24 February 2025
- Volunteers Week: 24 March 2025
During each week, we’re asking our basketball clubs to join the celebration by sharing stories of your incredible SportMakers on social media using #SportMaker.
What we are looking for:
Coaches – We want to hear about your incredible coaches working across the entire coaching pathway, from children, community, disability, right up to high performance or even a young coach making an impact.
Officials – We want to shine a light on officials, after all without them sport can’t take place. Tell us about your inspirational referees, umpires and technical officials.
Volunteers – Volunteers go above and beyond, giving their time, energy and skills to support sports, from opening the gates and making the tea to fundraising and admin support. These are the people that make sport happen.

Throughout the week, use our #SportMaker and tag Sport NI on your social media posts to honour your coaches, officials and volunteers.
Tell the world about your #SportMaker:
• What is so special about them?
• How do they make a difference in your sport?
• Highlight any achievements, success or inspirational stories
