UU Tigers Are One Win Away From Women’s League Title
UU Tigers hold an impressive 8-1 with 3 game remaining record this season. This has been the best performance in the league, with their nearest challengers and close rivals Belfast Star coming in with an impressive 7-4 record with 1 game remaining.
UU Tigers face the Tyrone Towers at home on the 20th of February where the could be crowned champions on their home court.
UU Tigers Head Coach, Delia Moore, had this to say about the teams hard work this season and the prospect of becoming champions,
Delia Moore, Head Coach of the UU Tigers Women’s Team“This season has been a fun journey of learning, growing, and competing. We had several key returners to the team who provided great leadership and communication, which played a large role in our success with this young team. Several of our games came down to the last few minutes, with one going into overtime and it shows how competitive this league can be, It’s clear that teams this year are very seriously pursuing the league title.
Our team is very passionate about this competition and their efforts and energy on the court throughout the season definitely exemplifies that. With just one win needed to claim the title and repeat as Basketball NI league champions, the excitement is growing!”

Belfast Star are just one win behind UU Tigers meanwhile, Queens BC have also kept a winning record to their name, coming in at third position. Tyrone Towers are chomping at their heals with the possibility of reaching 3rd spot still possible. Finally, Phoenix BC bring up the rear this season, however, with a history like theirs they will surely bounce back.
All leagues will draw to close and winners will be crowned before the commencement of the Basketball NI Playoffs in March.
