Team NI has just completed its first season competing with the support of Sport NI and the NI Commonwealth Games Federation. This enabled teams to be fielded at U15, U17 and Senior 3×3 with opportunities for international play against Wales at under-age and the home nations in the seniors. The newsletter summarises the journey and also the importance of coaching to performance success.
The 24-25 cycle has now begun with all club secretaries being sent information on the trial process that begins at the start of November.
Andy Gill, Performance Pathway Coordinator, stated “This was the first year that Team NI has had substantive support from Sport Northern Ireland and the NI Commonwealth Games Federation. This enabled us to create programmes accessible to all and begin the foundations of performance that we believe will see more players in national squads and greater success for our Team NI teams.”
Marc Mulholland, Vice Chair, commented “It’s been an exceptional first year for the resurgence and fresh vision of Team NI. We’re proud to have secured crucial funding from Sport NI and the National Lottery, and we’re deeply grateful for their support”.
