Ireland U16 Call-Ups Get Set For Four Nations

Everyone at BNI would like to wish Aoibheann Donnelly and Mark Burns, of Belfast Star, best wishes as they prepare to compete in the upcoming Four Nations events.

Aoibheann and Mark will compete at the National Basketball Arena in Dublin on the 26th and 27th March. The 4 Nations tournament brings together the national teams of Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Scotland playing in a round robin format.

Mark and Aoibheann are an inspiring example to other young basketball players within Northern Ireland, of how hard work and dedication can bring further recognition. BNI Performance Pathways Coordinator, Andy Gill, had this to add on the players:

“The 4 Nations tournament is the start of the international programme for our FIBA national teams. I have happy memories of winning the 2022 tournament in Scotland when I was head coach of the Ireland Under 16 Women. Aoibheann, from Belfast Star, featured for Ireland last year and I am sure she will be a key player for Coach O’Brien with that experience. Mark , also from Belfast Star, will be experiencing it for the first time but has played lots of big games with his club and school. All of us at Basketball Northern Ireland will be supporting their efforts and I will be attending the games as a keen observer from the sidelines.”

Andy Gill, BNI Performance Pathway Coordinator

Tickets and schedules for the 4 Nations can be obtained here on the Basketball Ireland website and are being shown live on basketballireland.tv
