Yesterday marked an exciting milestone for basketball in Northern Ireland as we hosted our JrNBA Draft Day at Newforge Sports Complex. We were delighted to welcome some of our Year 2 JrNBA Schools, giving them the opportunity to receive their official NBA kits, which they will proudly wear at the Festival of Fun at Ulster University Jordanstown (UUJ) on April 30th.
The event was filled with energy and enthusiasm as pupils and teachers from across the region came together to celebrate their involvement in the JrNBA programme. The Draft Day is an important step in the JrNBA journey, allowing young players to engage with the game and feel part of something special.
Niamh Mac Manus, Programme Coordinator, shared her thoughts on the event:
“It’s fantastic to see so many young players getting involved in basketball through the JrNBA programme. The excitement on Draft Day is always special, as the schools receive their NBA kits and begin their journey towards the Festival of Fun. We can’t wait to see them all in action at UUJ on April 30th!”
A huge thank you to all the teachers and pupils who attended and made the day so memorable. Your passion for basketball is what makes this programme so successful, and we’re looking forward to an action-packed Festival of Fun next month!
Stay tuned for more updates as we countdown to April 30th!
