Basketball NI Awarded Charitable Status

Basketball Northern Ireland (BNI) is proud to announce that it has been officially granted charitable status, marking a significant milestone in the organisation’s growth and commitment to the community.

This recognition by the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland acknowledges the invaluable work carried out by Basketball NI in promoting sport, health, inclusion, and community development across the region. As a Registered Charity, BNI will now be better positioned to expand its initiatives, forge new partnerships, and enhance basketball opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Kevin Craig, Chairperson of Basketball Northern Ireland, welcomed the news:

“After years of tireless work by our dedicated team of volunteers and staff in community outreach, basketball participation and competition, we are pleased that we have been now officially recognised as a Registered Charity.
Charitable status is a fair reflection of our shared sense of purpose, mission and values.
We are confident that charitable status will open up new funding opportunities to expand our programs, positively shape community engagement and develop the sport throughout the North.
We look forward to working with existing and new funding partners on our numerous community programs, competitions and development activities.”

The new charitable status marks a new chapter for Basketball Northern Ireland as it continues to grow participation, foster talent, and make the sport more accessible and impactful across the country.
