With the International FIBA 3×3 season getting underway Basketball NI board and staff having been working in the background building on a new vision, brand and identity for our 3×3.
The Team NI Senior Men and Women’s 3×3 squads will travel to Scotland on Friday the 7th of June ahead of the 3×3 International Invitational Event on Saturday 8th June at the PlaySport Arena in East Kilbride, supported in partnership with NI Commonwealth Games and Sport NI Performance Pathway.
“Our players will have a fresh new look as we continue to create a new identity and culture for our sport on the international stage. Our uniforms carry with them the Giants Causeway, a place of pride in what was once the land of the mythical giants. We have seen our Under Age teams wearing them and now it is now time for our senior men and women to represent us on the 3×3 international stage align with our Commonwealth pathway.” BNI Vice Chair, Marc Mulholland“We have created a new 3×3 brand highlighting some of the best of landmarks in Northern Ireland. Our foundation of the giants causeway coast hexagon stone, the world famous Titanic Museum, the iconic Harland and Wolfe cranes and the Londonderry/Derry Peace Bridge in a bid to capture some of the great heritage here in NI. Places of pride for all and an identity that transcends generations within our sport.” Mulholland Continues.
A lot of work behind the scenes has gone into making this happen and that does not happen overnight.
“We want our players to feel proud representing Team NI on the international stage. The culture of working together is in the foundations of our brand piece. Our staff and board working together to create a vision that is inclusive for everyone. A vision that embraces our spirit and the continued growth within the sport of basketball. We have such a unique story here in NI and we want everyone who picks up a ball here to feel proud of were they come from and have a platform and pathway to represent the sport they love.” Stated, BNI Vice Chair, Marc Mulholland.

Our teams will be wearing exclusive t-shirts and team wear with our new brand at the invitational event in Scotland which is a preparation piece and could potentially look like a dress rehearsal for future Commonwealth Games Qualifiers, although the games for 2026 have not been determined as yet. It is likely Team NI will face these teams again for qualification (except Ireland). This is a chance to set a marker and importantly a chance for everyone to learn both on and off the court and in the process look good in doing so.
