Team NI Announce U15 Summer Squads

The head coaches of the Team NI under 15 programmes have now selected their squads for the upcoming summer games which will include a 2 game series against Wales on the 19th – 20th July. This process began at Christmas with open trials then the selection of extended squads. The coaches will continue to work with  these players when summer training resumes  and select squads for the friendly games and series v Wales. A number of players played in the 2024 series v Wales: Caitlyn Barr, Katie Guy, Amelia Morris and Beatrice Reynolds for the U15 girls and Matthew Allen, Dallan Holman, Kamal Nour and Matthew Wilson for the U15 boys.

Performance Pathway Coordinator Andy Gill stated, “This is the second year of our recent series of games v Wales although we have a long history of playing our close neighbours. It is a great springboard for our players to test themselves at a higher level and compliments perfectly the Basketball Ireland U14 and U15 academies which all these players are part of”.

Head coach Rolandas Bartkus commented, “I would like to congratulate and thank everyone who took part in all stages of the Team NI U-15 Boys pre-summer programme. The effort and attitude shown were second to none. I hope it was a valuable experience for every young player involved and a motivation to work hard during the off-season. To those who have been selected – let’s keep working, keep learning, stay prepared, and most importantly – keep having fun!”

Girls Head Coach Lexi Posset said,” This was an incredibly competitive selection process for the U15 Girls BNI team. Aoife and I were impressed by the commitment, effort, and positive attitudes shown by every player throughout the training sessions. It’s a tremendous honour for girls at such a young age to have the opportunity to represent their country and gain insight into the level of dedication required. We want to thank everyone for their hard work and dedication.

To those who were not selected this time: keep your heads up. Every training session, every bit of feedback, and every challenge is an opportunity to grow.

To the players who have been selected: this is just the beginning. Now is the time to focus, train hard, and give everything as we prepare to represent Northern Ireland with pride this summer.”
