She Got Game: Year 3 Ready For Tip Off

She Got Game is back for its third year – bigger, better, and ready to welcome even more women into the social basketball family across Northern Ireland.

Funded by Sport NI and the National Lottery, and delivered in partnership with the FIBA Foundation and Basketball Ireland’s Socia-Ball programme, She Got Game is a six-week initiative designed to support and encourage women of all skill levels to get involved in basketball.

Whether you’re stepping on the court for the very first time or you’ve been around the game for years, She Got Game is here to empower, include, and inspire.

The programme was inspired by the Belfast Bulls’ “Ma Bulls” team, with the goal of creating a safe, welcoming environment where women can enjoy basketball in a less competitive setting – building confidence, friendships, and community through the sport.

What She Got Game Offers:

Each year, four clubs are invited to take part in the programme, receiving funding to support:

  • Hall hire
  • Coaching
  • Basketballs, t-shirts, and She Got Game merchandise

In addition, every few months a She Got Game Blitz is hosted at different venues across Northern Ireland. These events are designed for pure fun – with no scorekeeping, half-court defence, and an open-door policy for women of all ages (over 18) and experience levels. The blitz days are family-friendly, community-driven, and totally inclusive.

Programme Coordinator Niamh Mac Manus shared her pride in what She Got Game has achieved so far:

“Seeing this programme grow year on year has been nothing short of inspiring. I’m so proud of how She Got Game has created a space where women feel empowered, supported, and celebrated. Watching the numbers rise and hearing first-hand how much women get out of it is truly humbling. We are building more than basketball skills – we’re creating a safe and fun place where every woman is welcome and equal, regardless of background, age, or athletic ability. Every club that has taken part in the programme has still continued the sessions on to this day – with many organising their own blitz’s to play against each other. This is testament to the coaching and community built within those clubs. Each blitz keeps getting bigger and better and I can’t wait to build on that this year coming.”

Get Involved:

As we tip off Year 3, we’re looking for clubs across Northern Ireland to join us on this journey. With support available for facilities, coaching, and equipment, it’s the perfect opportunity to bring She Got Game to your community and help more women discover the joy of basketball.
