New Beginnings: Basketball NI Welcomes Club Engagement Officer

It is an extremely exciting time for Basketball NI as we welcome Lauren McCullough who has taken up the role of Club Engagement Officer. The role has been funded by the Department for Communities in partnership with the Rank Foundation Start Here programme.

The role will contribute to the growth of basketball in Northern Ireland over the next three years, specifically in developing strong working relationships between Basketball NI, its members, affiliated clubs, schools and community groups across the country.

“On behalf of the BNI Board I would like to welcome Lauren to the team as Club Engagement Officer.  Having spoken with many of our clubs, we are all delighted with this appointment and have no doubt Lauren will bring a wealth of enthusiasm, effort and efficiency to the role.  I know Lauren is keen to get out and meet club members face-to-face and I have no doubt that the BNI community will make her feel very welcome.

We also wish to acknowledge the support provided by the Department for Communities and the Rank Foundation in being able to secure the long-term funding  necessary to attract an employee with such calibre and we hope we can secure much needed additional appointments in the future.”

Kevin Craig, Chairperson, Basketball NI.

Lauren is a Leisure and Events Management Graduate from Ulster University with a huge passion for sport.

“I am excited to begin my role as Club Engagement Officer at Basketball NI. I look forward to building new relationships within the basketball community and increasing the profile of the sport. Over the next few months I will be out and about meeting clubs, groups and volunteers – keep an eye out for regular updates on our website and social media.”
