Gary Devenney

Gary is a highly motivated and enthusiastic professional serving as the Community Good Relations Co-ordinator with Basketball Northern Ireland. Graduating with a BSc (Hons) in Sports Science from Liverpool John Moores University in 2010, Gary brings over 22 years of coaching experience and leadership to his role.

 

Throughout his career, he has held senior positions such as Senior Academy Manager, Player Education Officer, and Head of Football Development, where he gained extensive expertise in curriculum design, coach mentoring, and strategic academy leadership. His professional approach is underpinned by a holistic philosophy of athlete development – building meaningful connections, creating trust, and focusing on process over outcome.

 

As Community Good Relations Co-ordinator, Gary is passionate about using sport, in particular basketball, as a tool to promote peace, unity, and inclusion across diverse communities in Northern Ireland. His experience, enthusiasm, and dedication to both sport and community engagement make him a strong advocate for fostering positive relationships and breaking down barriers through shared sporting experiences.
