Success in Minor & Junior All-Ireland Schools League Finals

The pinnacle of the minor and junior All-Ireland Schools League took place at the National Basketball Arena in Dublin from 2nd May to 4th May with 3 schools from Northern Ireland reaching the Finals.

First up from the North representation was St Dominic’s Belfast who faced Carrigtwohill CC in the Junior ‘C’ Girls League Final. It was a nail bitter of a game against Carrigtwohill CC taking it into extra time with Anna Rice from St Dominics finishing with a 3 pointer. St Dominics had unbelievable support with many fellow pupils making the trip to the arena and back in Belfast their assembly hall was filled with supporters edging the team on. Well done to the team on their amazing performance as they see St Dominics achieve their first All Ireland win (pictured above).

Our Lady’s and Saint Patricks, Knock was next up in the All Ireland Junior ‘A’ Girls Final taking on Presentation Killarney at the National Basketball Arena. Belfast Star Super-league player Paddy McGaharan had his coaching hat on as he lead the girls team from OLSPK. Congratulations to the team as they become champions with a 40 – 32 victory.

We must give a special mention to St Malachy’s Belfast who faced SPSL Rathmore in the All-Ireland Schools League Junior ‘A’ Boys on 4th May and unfortunately missed out on the title with SPSL taking the win 53 – 31 following a great competitive game. Well done to St Malachy’s on their season.

Congratulations to all teams, coaches, players and supporters that travelled to the National Basketball Arena for the League Finals.
